![]() The official format for comics/manga are static epub/mobi/awz3 (that's the main reason why many epub reader app are not great with epub comics/manga, they handle them as dynamic epub instead of static epub).īut the main reason I don't use CBR/CBZ is that I would have to convert my manga to CBR/CBZ from my epub (only humble bundle offer them in that format). they are not designed for comics (there are just a lot of apps, usually born to read pirated scans, that can read CBZ/CBR). epub/mobi/azw3 are more complex, they actually not just store the images but also the metadata and the double pages informations (so that you can display one images as a single image for example as a cover, and all other images double that you can also display as single images).ĬBZ and CBR are actually just zipped files. cbz and that's your CBZ file, if you use winrar to compress them and rename that. You can zip any list of images, rename it to. I don't use CRB/CBZ at all (my humble bundle manga actually offer CBZ, but I usually store ebook as epub so I don't want to use CBZ just for humble bundle, the main reason is also because I would lose all metadata with CBZ). That's fine (I also get the correct metadata that I cannot get with Kindle Comic Converter that I was using before Kindle Comic Creator, and the Kindle app is amazing and without ads) but since I don't always want to do a conversion I would prefer to just read my official epub comics/manga directly. No, I buy comics/manga from stores like Amazon, Kobo, Humble Bundle and other stores.įor Amazon and Kobo I usually use the app (Kindle and Kobo app), for humble bundle and other store I usually convert the epub to mobi with Kindle Comic Creator and I use the Kindle app. ![]() ![]() If I can at least solve the problem on pc that's still good (I know that I can extract the images for manga/comics but that's still not the best way to read them because I will need to merge double pages manually). ![]() If there is any plugin to make Calibre better just tell me. I want something that work on both PC and Android and that can read manga/comics with double pages support if possible, if that's not possible I will just continue to use the Kindle app (and Kobo app for ebook bought there). Right now I just convert anything in the amazon format and I use the kindle app to read, but if there is a good alternative that I can use I would like to know. The main problem is that I want to find a good alternative for reading epub without converting them and I cannot find anything.ĪDE from adobe is only an option to download and remove the drm, Kobo app is only compatible with ebooks from the store and Calibre reader is not really good especially for manga and comics where you cannot even zoom the images or view double pages as one (but it's not great for ebook either) and it's not compatible with android. That's why I usually buy from amazon store (but I was able to learn how to make a good epub to mobi conversion for manga by extracting all the images from the epub and using Kindle Comic Creator (not Kindle Comics Converter that mess up the metadata), so that's not always true, and the conversion from epub to awz with calibre is good). I love Calibre for storing my ebooks library and removing drm from my ebooks but when I read them I usually prefer the Kindle PC and android App because they are faster and the reader is better (especially for manga and comics).
